Some people collect games like Ash collects Pokémon but I’m not one of those people. I usually buy multiplayer games and play them for hundreds, if not thousands, of hours. I recently hit the 1,000 hours mark on Age of Empires IV and after checking my Steam library I can confirm I only have 157 games. That might seem like a lot until you realize my account is 20 years old. All this is not to say that I don’t take a peek at the steam summer sales.
So far during this year’s sale, I’ve bought five games: Portal and Portal 2 for my wife, and Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, Black Mesa, and Jurassic World Evolution 2 for myself. All of these games for only $12.95!
A few weeks back my wife and I were discussing games and Portal came up. She has never played it and I was determined to get the game for her. I checked the sales history for the game and figured the summer sale would be a great time to pick it up. Portal is a classic game that is fun and has a great story. We all know the cake is a lie and soon my wife will too.
As for me I decided to pick up Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. I remember playing Crash Bandicoot on PlayStation and for the price I figured I could re-live some nostalgia. I’ve already beat the first game and played a few levels of the second and have really enjoyed myself, although the first one is way better.
I thought that was all I was going to buy but then I decided to look more into Jurassic World Evolution 2 and was convinced that I would get my money out of the $3 it would cost me to pick it up. I think I’ve broken the golden rule here with the steam sales because I don’t actually know when I’m going to play it but I’m totally going to one day.
Last on this list is a game I’ll probably never play, Black Mesa. This isn’t because I don’t like Half-Life, it’s because I actually love Half-Life. I played Half-Life when it first released and I recently played through it again a year or two ago and for me it still holds up. I don’t actually need the updated, fan made, version of the game but just in case I ever do want to play it I figured spending $2 on it now was a good idea.
